Effective January 1, 2008, a notary-related bill was signed into law stating that all documents requiring an acknowledgment that will be filed in California must contain the exact wording shown in the acknowledgment section below. Documents that will be filed out of state may use that states wording, as long as the wording complies with that states laws. However, if a Jurat is to be used, the exact wording under the Jurat section must always be used, regardless of the State/Country the document will be filed in.
